This is a common question in Spaceworks' Sheffield shared workspace. Our sharers cover diverse disciplines, but share many issues as either small businesses and/or consultants for hire.
One such conversation recently was between two sharers who both have business partners based in London, one with a nationwide (and sometimes global) reach and the other with projects in London and South Yorkshire. The issue was communication with their respective business partners. Both used a combination of phone, email and Skype with project files flying back and forth and a lot more words required to describe things than if you were sat next to each other. Plus of course both have a very good working knowledge of the train timetable to and from St Pancras. Unfortunately in this instance neither have discovered some magic solution to share with the other, but there was reassurance in knowing that they were not the only ones working hard overcoming limitations.
Plus both acknowledged this was a small price to pay for living in Sheffield rather than London!
