Our prices

Our website is rather dominated by coffee, soup and the distractions of home working ... nothing wrong with that, but today we thought we'd tell you about our prices. On the day when government is facing a further recession and the Euro is still in crisis some good news about money would not go amiss.

What we aim to do is give you somewhere enjoyable to work at a price you can afford. It can be a day a week, or all week. Below is the basic structure, but give us a ring/tweet/email to see what would suit you best, or better still meet us for a coffee and cake (oops, slipped back on to usual territory ....)

We have flexible packages …

Choose the one that suits you best

Full time, 5 days a week - £150 per month
Part time, up to 2.5 days a week/ 10 days a month - £100
Hourly - £5 per hour

Tick, tock ... time and enterprise waits

One of the great challenges of running your own business is time. It seems to disappear into thin air, when deadlines remain carved in stone. One of our sharers www.cadenceworks.co.uk have been working on a proposal this week for a piece of public policy research (its what they do!). They are working in partnership (that's what they do!) and while they are very experienced at both these things, it does not make it any easier fitting everything in in time for the submission deadline. The thing about these deadlines is that they are often on a Friday and the submitting email is so often met with an out of office reply (occasionally for a 2 week holiday), suggesting the back breaking (relationship jeopardising/social life quashing) effort to get the thing in on time, was not necessary!

One of the the reasons (there are many ...) small businesses struggle with time is that you have to do everything; accounts, office paper recycling, marketing, cleaning, business plans, office decorating and so on. People who work from home also have to have iron wills to resist ironing/DIY/daytime TV or in winter retreat under the duvet.

Having a shared space to work in like Spaceworks will not solve this time issue, but it will give you the chance to be around others who are facing the same struggles and sometimes we genuinely can help each other out with frustrating IT problem, or recommendation of a good print place or even a blood sugar restoring snack.

Making Your Mind Up

This was the happy sight yesterday on a Hors Categorie Tours recce ride for their upcoming Peaks Primer cycling weekend (now only £75 they tell me ... 11-13th March).

Making Your Mind Up which cake to have is a nice problem to have (the banana and ginger was nice), but when it comes to deciding how to move your business forward or in a different direction is is a bit trickier.

If you have a job then you take for granted that whatever your day to day peaks and lows there will be a payment at the end of the month. When you run your own you can go months without a payment and it can take some getting adapted to.

At Spaceworks we like a musical reference and so thought it worth looking up what Eurovision Song Contest winners (1981 - Wogan supreme) had to say about Making Your Mind Up to see if it helped ... not all was useful, but maybe there is something in the advice that:

you gotta speed it up
and then u gotta slow it down

A reference to the feast and famine aspect of self-employment perhaps?

Stick with it even when it is tough?

Mmm, maybe cake is the answer? Or maybe we should look at the wisdom of Lulu and Donovan on buiness planning ...

Launch Party!

On Thursday October the 14th we're celebrating the launch of Spaceworks' newly opened office. We are inviting neighbours and friends to drop in for coffee and delicious home made cake between 10 and 12 noon.
