What's going on?

Listening to Marvin Gaye driving through the snow capped, but sun drenched peaks of the Lake District the other day made it feel like 2013 is about to get going. Sitting in a cosy Spaceworks today after a lovely baked potato (with lamb curry) from Oven Made on London Road the warm glow of progress is still in place. (The picture is one from Magna, to keep the warm feeling going).

2013 will see Spaceworks make our next step into a new even more purpose built space in our Harland Works ... been talking to the builder today and been prioritising coffee making and meeting room facilities. Our current sharers are enjoying planning the new space with us and it'll be great to have a bigger meeting room as well as the flexible individual desks/shared big desk that has been so popular in our current room.

Of course the Harland Cafe will be even closer (2-3m or so!) and we'll still be close to Norton Mayfield who have outgrown us and need their own new space, happily still in Harland Works. Those architects are sure loving planning their own office ... who new how exciting insulation board dimensions were so much fun.

So, well keep you up to date on what's going on as 2013 warms up ...

Spring is in the air in Sheffield

Well it is a bit lighter in the mornings and does not feel like we need a www.harlandcafe.co.uk breakfast every morning to keep the chill out. Over the last few weeks we have been working hard at the next phase of development of Spaceworks and we can nearly announce the big news ... nearly.

In the meantime we are all enjoying the benefits of a shared space and somewhere to work when working from home is not working or when we need a social or inspiration fix.

We might add that the Harland Cafe is going from strength to strength and it is great to see lots more people enjoying the John Street triangle charms.

Looking forward to seeing here and there,

The Spaceworks Team

Abbeydale and London Roads

The Abbeydale-London Road corridor is a Sheffield gem. We are very pleased to be based in the area at the Sharrow end on John Street. It is not just the culinary temptations all around, but the wide variety of businesses that are around here. It it is a nice feeling to think we are all in it together trying to make our way in tricky times.

The new Harland Cafe really adds to the area, not just because it does lovely food, but also because it is starting to put on some good events too. On the 10th February it is hosting a Cafe Politique event on 'What makes a good society'. Local MP Paul Blomfield will be taking part and we hope the discussion can think about things we can do to make our part of Sheffield a bette rplace to work, rest and play ...

7pm 10/02/12 for the Cafe Politique event, see you there!
